font-family: Calibri;\">I was a member of Abernethy golf club for many years and the course is my favourite place on earth!\u00a0 I have had no greater golfing pleasure than playing on my own on a late June evening with the course completely to myself &#8211; font-family: Calibri;\">Abernethy GC is in the village of Nethy Bridge, near Grantown on Spey in the Cairngorms National Park.\u00a0 Founded\u00a0in 1893, it is a\u00a0quintessential\u00a0Highland 9-hole course &#8211; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">Abernethy is\u00a0one of those courses where all golfers will feel they should break their handicap;\u00a0 its short, with many\u00a0inviting tee shots,\u00a0and &#8220;feels easy&#8221;.\u00a0 However, there are some\u00a0key reasons why most people won&#8217;t break their handicap; the fairways become very tight\u00a0over 220 yards, the excellent greens are small with many having difficult slopes, plus 3 of the holes &#8211; the long par 3s at the 5th and 8th, and the par 4 7th &#8211; font-family: Calibri;\">However, in my opinion, the pricing is really\u00a0a shame\u00a0and is discouraging anyone wanting to play just a quick 9 holes.\u00a0 It is \u00a318 for 9 holes, but only \u00a325 for the whole day, with no 18 hole price, hence I&#8217;m forced to conclude its not particularly good value &#8211; my recommendation would be \u00a313 for 9 and\u00a0\u00a318 for 18.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">On the day, I got a 5 on the 7th:) &#8211; which always makes me happy!<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;
