Young “American” style parkland course close to Findhorn Bay on the Moray Coast<\/strong><\/p>\n

Detail;\u00a0 <\/strong>Kinloss Country is a bit like the proverbial Curate’s Egg – “good in parts”.\u00a0 It is an unusual parkland find on this links laden Moray coastline.<\/p>\n

The difficult par 3 third, with sweeping views to the North<\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

It has\u00a0a very unusual start of\u00a03 par 3s, the first 2 of which are very straight forward; indeed if you don’t pick up a scorecard, you might be forgiven for thinking\u00a0you were on a par 3 course.<\/p>\n

But things get better with the 3rd played downhill with sweeping views, with challenges ahead on the 5th and 7th\u00a0two of the more difficult holes.<\/p>\n

\"12th<\/a>

12th hole – with lake in front.<\/p><\/div>\n

The 12th hole, most likely characterised as the signature hole,\u00a0has a\u00a0manufactured lake in front\u00a0of the green, so make sure you take enough club.<\/p>\n

The course was in reasonable condition when I played with special note for the good condition of the fairways and bunkers.\u00a0 The course is quite open to the elements though with the 11th being aptly named “Windy Hills”.<\/p>\n

\"15th<\/a>

15th – A bit of a Pig!<\/p><\/div>\n

In fact, please take heed of the hole names!\u00a0 Although I must admit the 15th hole, a bit of a pig, should be renamed.<\/p>\n

I played pretty steady throughout, and shot 90, despite having\u00a0two 8’s on the back 9.<\/p>\n

I\u00a0was also caught out at the 17th, called “Carnoustie Twist” – needless to say I found the hidden green side bunkers!<\/p>\n

Kinloss Country also has a nice little clubhouse\u00a0with reasonably priced food and drink;\u00a0 the staff were also particularly friendly.<\/p>\n

I wouldn’t go out of my way to play again, but it is a nice\u00a0holiday venture and is close by the wonderful Findhorn bay, an ideal spot for a nice pub meal or picnic.<\/p>\n
