1958 due to a major river flood, and I couldn&#8217;t find out in what way the new layout the differs from the original Willie Park design.<\/p>\n<p>Other than the slight uphill par 3 first hole, followed by the significant drop down to the signature par 3 second green, the course is very flat, unlike many of the courses in the Borders.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1079\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1079\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1079\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.scotlandgolfbible.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/171110_St-Boswells_2nd-tee-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.scotlandgolfbible.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/171110_St-Boswells_2nd-tee-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/blog.scotlandgolfbible.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/171110_St-Boswells_2nd-tee-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blog.scotlandgolfbible.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/171110_St-Boswells_2nd-tee-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1079\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The signature 161 yard par 3 second hole, with the beautiful Borders countryside in the background.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This makes for an easy and most picturesque walk for holes 3 through 9.\u00a0 The course is very favourable to a slicer of the ball, with the river tight along the left for holes 3 to 6, with trees lining the left for the return to the clubhouse from 7 to 9.\u00a0 \u00a0The greens were in good condition, albeit they are quite flat other than the 7th, a short par 5 hole, with a basin or saddle type green.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1080\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1080\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1080\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.scotlandgolfbible.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/171110_St-Boswells_5th-yy-green-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.scotlandgolfbible.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/171110_St-Boswells_5th-yy-green-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/blog.scotlandgolfbible.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/171110_St-Boswells_5th-yy-green-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blog.scotlandgolfbible.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/171110_St-Boswells_5th-yy-green-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1080\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The 5th green at St Boswells with River Tweed awaiting!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The course was very soft when we played despite the high wind on the day, which meant plenty cleaning of muddy balls.\u00a0 Overall the course had held up well to the recent weather with all greens still in play.<\/p>\n<p>We only paid \u00a35 for 9 holes, but the \u00a315 summer green fee for 9 holes represents good value especially given the beautiful surroundings.\u00a0 \u00a0I had a fairly difficult day due to high winds, scoring 50 for only 12 stableford points &#8211;
